The PhysicianQuality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) currently rewards physicians up to 2% of Meidcare reimbursements for successfully reporting certain measures. This can be accomplished through claims based reports, registry based reporting, or EMR reporting. Unfortunately there are few EMR's which currently support PQRI measures and registry reporting requires duplicate input of information. By using claims based reporting, physicians can take advantage of the reward reimbursement while it last and meet mandatory Medicare guidelines once the health reform act is fully implemented.
